Cancuntop100.com is one of my recent new websites. The aim is to have a collection of Cancun themed and Riviera Maya websites and provide a one stop shop for everything to do with Cancun.
If you have a website with a Cancun theme and would like to be listed please sign up for an account - it’s totally free. Your website can be about anything to do with Cancun. It could be your blog, your Cancun based company, a personal homepage that advertises your condo, a commercial site, yes - even a message board or anything else as long as it has Cancun content as it’s main focus.

Cute Cancun Story or Clever Spamming Technique?
August 21, 2006 on 11:05 pm | In All, Web Work | 1 CommentI noticed an unusual post that seems to be doing the rounds on many Cancun message boards today, although it doesn’t seem to have made it to my own Cancun message board yet. No doubt it’s on a ton of diving boards too and will be on lots more boards tomorrow. It seems to have spread virally by word of mouth, someone sees it on one board and then posts it on another similarly themed board they frequent.
It sure is a cute story but I’m convinced that it’s a clever form of spam.

Live from Miami
July 28, 2006 on 10:37 am | In All, Home Life, Web Work | 2 CommentsMade it to Miami no problems and bought my new laptop on Wednesday, it’s a Toshiba 1.73 Centrino with 1meg RAM and 100 Gig HDD. Got a good deal on it but there seems to be a problem with the battery not charging up so we’ll be taking it back to the shop today.
Miami, is not really how I expected it. It has a lot more Latin influence than I thought, with Spanish seemingly spoken moreso than English. Lots of coconut palms everywhere make it feel very much like Cancun, and the weather is not much different, although it is a little cooler today.

Off to Miami
July 24, 2006 on 10:39 pm | In All, Home Life, Web Work | No CommentsTomorrow I’m off to Miami for a few days to buy my new laptop. Staying with a friend and think there may well be some parties too. Back on Friday but should be able to post to the blog from there too, that’s a great thing about this software you can post from anywhere.
Computer Mishaps
July 23, 2006 on 1:56 pm | In All, Web Work | 2 CommentsJust before I left for my vacation to England my desktop computer stopped working. I took it in to be looked at and it seems like the chip had blown. I took it over to a friend of a friend and left it with him while we were away. It now seems like the whole motherboard is dead and it’s almost certainly beyond repair.
The loss of the desktop PC was not that big a deal as I always used my laptop for most of my webstuff. I’d just buy a new desktop as and when I could. Then I wake up yesterday and Jannet tells me the laptop suddenly shut down on her while she was checking her email and is not rebooting.

Latest Cancuncare Google Rankings
July 21, 2006 on 11:58 pm | In All, Web Work | 1 CommentI was checking Google tonight as I do quite frequently to find out my latest search engine rankings. On a Friday night, I probably should have been at Corona Bar, La Taberna or some other bar in cancun, but I’ve hardly left the house since we got back from vacation.
Google is reponsible for 66% of the visitors to the main website, and is the foremost search engine you should optimise for.
For the term ‘Cancun Vacation’ we get the #1 spot out of 17.8 million results returned, we also get #1 for the plural ‘Cancun Vacations’ out of 14.9 million results. In both cases we beat Trip Advisor into second place. I really can’t complain at that, can I?
For the message board, there are two main terms that are important,
