New Bridge Proposed For Cancun
August 8, 2006 on 2:58 pm | In All, Cancun News | No CommentsThe first draft of a proposal to build a new bridge in Cancun
was presented today. The bridge will be just short of a kilometre in length, be 21 metres wide and carry four lanes of traffic. The project has a budget of 300 million pesos and if all goes well construction will commence early in 2007. Early indications are that it will be a toll road with a 10 peso charge for use. August 1, 2006 on 4:00 pm | In All, Cancun News, Home Life | 1 CommentJust heard on the TV that meteorologists are keeping a close eye on Tropical Strom Chris which is developing some way off to the South West. With Hurricane Wilma still very much in everyones memory here in Cancun any potential hurricane is closely monitored.
New to the 2 for 1 Cancun Discount Card - My Place
July 17, 2006 on 10:12 pm | In All, Cancun News, Parties and Events | No CommentsI’m pleased to say that my good friend Brant who lives here in Cancun too has added another restaurant/bar to his Cancun Discount Card.
My Place, a popular Cancun message board addicts hang out, has recently joined the scheme. Joe the owner and amiable host and another friend of mine (it’s a close knit community here!) in conjunction with the card offers 2 for 1 meals. With Karaoke and Joe’s famous Kamikazi shots it’s a fun night out.
To buy the card for just $15 which includes a $15 voucher off a meal at Lorito Joes then please visit Brants site at Entertainment Plus
A Coconut called Wilma
April 14, 2006 on 10:42 am | In All, Cancun News, Home Life | 5 CommentsJust short of 6 months to the day since Hurricane Wilma hit Cancun and stayed for 30 hours, Cancun is back to its former glory with white sand beaches recently restored and now bigger than they have been for many years. Unfortunately, there are already signs of Mother Nature taking some sand back from certain areas. One thing that Mother Nature has taken care of is the vegetation though. Hurricane ravaged plants and trees were showing signs of regrowth within days.
I picked up a fallen coconut from the road outside Blue Bay Getaway just 4 days after the hurricane. I thought it would be fun to try and grow the coconut as a long standing reminder, and also to chart it’s growth against the growth of our daughter Daniella.

The pic on the left shows Daniella and the coconut on October 25th 2005. Daniella was just over 10 months old at the time. 6 months later, you can see the progress of both has been noticeable. Dani now 16 months old has not quite kept pace with the coconut, but both are thriving well - as is Cancun.
Nearly all Cancun night clubs now open
March 19, 2006 on 7:33 pm | In All, Cancun News | No CommentsAfter Wilma ravaged Cancun and decimated the tourist industry overnight, progress has been remarkable. With Spring Break currently in full swing and hundreds of students from all over the world, living it up, they are not being disappointed. As has seemed to be the case, clubs and bars have seemed to open up in batches. Senor Frogs and Bulldog being the latest batch of clubs that opened this weekend. Neraly all major nightclubs are now open, the exceptions being La Boom and Pat O Briens.
The first club to open after the hurricane was Basic (formerly known as G Spot) which opened in November. Continue reading Nearly all Cancun night clubs now open…
Webcam Woes
March 14, 2006 on 3:02 pm | In All, Cancun News, Home Life, Web Work | No CommentsOne of my other sites I started about 6 months ago is Webcam Cancun . The site previously used the feed from the house of my good friend Brant who runs the Entertainment Plus card here in Cancun. Brant moved house a couple of months ago and the feed became unreliable and finally packed up altogether due to firewall conflicts. Not wanting to offer an imageless webcam, and also to avoid getting dropped from the many webcam directories the site is featured in, I decided to go out and buy my own webcam.
