Approach to Cancun Airport
August 29, 2006 on 3:34 pm | In All, Cancun Videos | 1 CommentHere’s a fun little video I found on YouTube which shows the approach to Cancun airport as seen by the pilot. It’s always a great feeling when you’re looking out of the window after a long flight and you see the jungle, then suddenly you’ve landed and your vacation in Cancun really can get started at last.
Hurricane Ernesto to avoid Cancun
August 27, 2006 on 8:55 am | In All, Cancun News | No CommentsThree days later things are becoming clearer. The bad news is the tropical storm has now strengthened into a Category 1 Hurricane, with predictions showing it will strengthen further.
The good news is, if it keeps to it’s predicted tracking path it will totally miss Cancun. Each time a new update is published Ernesto seems to be bearing more and northwards.
We may have a few showers as a result of the outer bands but it’s just as possible that we wont see any affect on the weather. It looks like poor old Cuba will feel the brunt of this one.

Tropical Depression 5 set to affect Cancun
August 24, 2006 on 10:38 pm | In All, Cancun News | No CommentsJust when it’s been a very quiet season a Tropical Depression develops. When I first checked this out a few hours ago the 5 day tracking map had it headed directly for Cancun.
The latest update shows it being pushed northwards, and that trend is likely to continue. It hasn’t even reached Tropical Storm status yet, let alone Hurricane status. If it does progress to hurricane status then it will be named Hurricane Ernesto. Hopefully, it will bring nothing more than a few days of cloud and some rain - and that wont be for about another 5 days in any case. It may miss us altogether, just too early to tell but something to keep an eye on.

Cancun Newspaper Offices Bombed
August 24, 2006 on 10:04 pm | In All, Cancun News | No CommentsI’ll start by saying that these newspaper offices are situated well downtown and nowhere near any Cancun Hotels, the perpetrators are
believed to be members of drug cartels who didn’t take kindly to the current reporting of their activities.
The bombings took place last night around 10pm in co-ordinated simultaneous attacks and were carried out against the Newspapers Por Esto and Que Quintana Roo Se Entere. The ‘bombs’ were not bombs in the sense that many people will think, they were fragmentation grenades.
As can be seen by the picture on the left, these are small devices and do not cause a lot of damage, although I wouldn’t liked to have been near it when it went off.
Cute Cancun Story or Clever Spamming Technique?
August 21, 2006 on 11:05 pm | In All, Web Work | 1 CommentI noticed an unusual post that seems to be doing the rounds on many Cancun message boards today, although it doesn’t seem to have made it to my own Cancun message board yet. No doubt it’s on a ton of diving boards too and will be on lots more boards tomorrow. It seems to have spread virally by word of mouth, someone sees it on one board and then posts it on another similarly themed board they frequent.
It sure is a cute story but I’m convinced that it’s a clever form of spam.

Playa Marlin - Cancun Beach Video
August 19, 2006 on 1:54 pm | In All | No CommentsHere’s another video of the beach in Cancun. This time it’s Playa Marlin which is located behind Plaza Kukulcan almost in the centre of the Ocean side of the Cancun Hotel Zone. Hotels in this area include the Tucancun and Villas Marlin are also right by here. Ii took this video last week on a hot August afternoon.
You can see that the beach is massive here
